Serious stuff and the... not-so-serious

Today I:

-finished Goblet of Fire
-started Order of the Phoenix
-went to the bank
-attempted to call financial aid but never could get a hold of anyone. Grah. Apparently my family was chosen to have our financial and FAFSA records 'verified' 'randomly'. Fine. This just means that we regurgitate half of what Mum filled out on the FAFSA (I was about to go crazy toward the end of the spring, or I would have done it myself), send in our W-2s and tax forms, sign, and send it back. We received this in early June, but there was a small snag.

I had to sign it, too. As I was four hours away, this wasn't going to happen until mid-July.

So when accounting started sending out tuition bills in early July, we had clearly not sent that back, and the only financial aid that showed up on my bill was my academic scholarships, which, while good, aren't near enough to cover Agnes tuition alone. I'll be calling them again tomorrow--I should be able to fax all this over there and (finally) get a financial aid statement and a (revised) bill.

The Harry-est Towns in America have been announced. Decatur is #18. Yay! I'm disappointed in my state as a whole, though. #37. They let me down, alas.

Now, to the more serious business re: spoilers. If you think you have a scoop about Book Seven, don't post it unlocked on LJ. Seriously, the Order of JKR's Lawyers is a fierce entity--I've found an entry by at least one person on LJ who has already been in trouble with them. (Yay Googlefu.) And so's LJ--one person posted the rumored list of chapter titles (which are checking out so far), and that person was temporarily suspended. Could be a coincidence, but you know.

So as you've already figured out, I'm not going to be around as much this week--partially because I want to finish rereading by Saturday, and partially to avoid getting too into rumored spoiler investigation. I must admit, though, some of these rumored spoilers are ridiculously funny. I'm imagining a ghostwriter writing epic fanfics and saving them as DeathlyHallows.rtf and BookSeven.rtf on Scholatic's and Bloomsbury's computers, and the REAL Book Seven being saved as License.rtf or Help.rtf.

Is that a real job? Because I would be ALL OVER that.

*jumps off soapbox* To the fun part! I'll be posting one of these every day through Friday, including a huge one sometime this week when I get around to it. Here, have a small one today. Hope you've read all six books so far!

Poll #1022768 Severus Snape: You know you love him.

What are your thoughts on Snape?

He's for the Order, of course. Dumbledore was right to trust him.
7(70.0%)
He's as evil as he acts toward Harry--Voldemort's side all the way.
0(0.0%)
He can go either way--he just does what'll benefit him at the time.
1(10.0%)
I have no idea.
2(20.0%)

Ticky?

Ticky!
3(30.0%)
*sigh* Ticky
1(10.0%)
What is this ticky? I thought I told you to stop this nonsense.
1(10.0%)
I'll never succumb to your ticky. Ooh shiny!

Haha, my state is #23. And there are a disturbing number of PA towns on that list. XD None of them are my town, although I can get to at least 4 of them within an hour and a half.

Spoilers are f'ing pissing me off. But I'm curious so I have to read them. They all make me sad and angry at the same time. But hopefully they are wrong wrong wrong... but when combined, it does seem like half of the wizarding world dies. I hope they're wrong.

Stay strong and don't read the spoilers!

Oh, the fact that people are dying isn't surprising at all. Watching people freak out over this is a great time, though, which is what's making the avoidance of said spoilers really hard. *cough*Fandom_Wank*cough*

Till Saturday!

I might actually get the book! Amazing, considering I've been feigning apathy until now. But, I really want to know what happens.

In my opinion, all Snape needs is a loving wife to make babies with. Or a hug at least. He obviously wasn't hugged enough as a child.

Snape was not hugged enough as a child, I must agree.

Now I want an icon with that on it.
