Math Love: My First Confession

I found this while going through some old journals. It's my written confession of my love of math, and the point where I begin to consider further study of the discipline.

Okay, I may as well come clean. I actually like calculus. Yes, it's true. In Cal I it was the necessary evil that I must endure in order to graduate. Now, however, it's different. I like it. I understand how the numbers are working and why they work... and I want to find out more.

Somehow I think making a B had a lot to do with that. Somehow... what would have happened if if I had made an A in there? Would I have become cocky and slacked off during this entire course? Would I have become lazy and skipped off the entire time because that's the kind of thing you can do sans attendance policy?

I don't know. I know only the end result.

I'm actually considering taking more math. Yes, you read that correctly. I may very possibly double-dip French and math at Agnes Scott.

Confessing this to my friends, though, who saw me as a literary math whiz, was another story. They thought I was crazy. Of course, they still do, but hearing it for the first time was a bit shocking. Now, though, I'm living and loving the end result.
