thinking is dangerous

A new term

When I was in the shower tonight, I was thinking about my social awkwardness over the years and how I finally learned social skills over the last few years. Then I thought about the awkward years of middle school where everyone wants to fit in, yet they're discovering who they are at the same time.

Then the term came to me. The last two years were my social puberty. You go in with no clue of what to expect, and you emerge more developed and (usually) more knowledgeable of the world around you. You're not fully developed by any means, but you have a better idea of what's going to happen.

My social puberty may be over, but my development is never finished. Let it continue.
