First day of classes, ahoy ahoy!

Classes started today. Here's my schedule.

French 390 (Baudelaire and Modernité) - T/Th 11:00am-12:15pm
French 480 (French senior seminar) - T 3:30pm-4:45pm
Math 352 (Complex Variables) - M/W/F 12:00pm-1:00pm
Math 490 (Independent Study) - T 1:00pm-2:00pm
English 200 (Intro to Nonfiction) - M/W 1:00pm-2:15pm
Phys Ed 121 (Yoga) - M/W 4:00pm-5:15pm

This is where I have the look of shock and horror on my face because this is my last semester and my schedule looks like that? Okay, I could drop complex, except it's the only math class I haven't taken there and I want to, and the book is so shiny. (It really is, too.)

I also have only one class on Thursday and Friday, meaning I have more time to work on my senior seminar and my research project. Whoohoo!

I had Baudelaire first. Caitlin, you'd love it. We're reading Les Fleurs du Mal in really great detail. I think I'm going to like the class. We need a smaller classroom, though; it feels weird having such a big classroom for a class of six people. Also, there is a first-year in this class. Yes, in a 300-level class. I knew her before this class, and she's really nice, but still.

Then came my 490 meeting with my advisor. I think I'm making him go gray. I know he wasn't that gray when I got to Agnes. However, we did have a full meeting, despite neither of our thinking much about the project over winter break and both of us pulling stuff out of nowhere, and we talked about a lot of good stuff.

After that I saw Amanda, who was selling some of her books to Rose. They were going to meet in the dining hall. I had some time to kill before senior seminar, so I went along.

During senior seminar we just talked about the class, read from the syllabus (which still wasn't finished), and read from this packet on literary theory. And to think that I still don't have one topic for my senior seminar paper yet. Um.

I returned to my room after that and checked on the status on my Teach for America application. I never mentioned this, but I did apply; I figured if they cared enough to contact me first, I might as well. So I threw something together before the most recent deadline and hoped for the best.

And I was invited to the final interview, which is a daylong affair. This is fairly big, considering there's usually a phone interview in between submitting the application and the final interview, but they let me skip that step. I'm not complaining, considering how much I despise talking on the phone.

Then there was dinner, some cleaning, some showering, some nail-painting (they're sparkly now), some hall-meeting (consideration hours, what?), and some LJing.

I also got my issues with my independent study not showing up on my schedule straightened out. Hooray.

OH! I got my birthday package from Andrew: a handheld Sudoku game, a 20Q game (we tried to make it guess 'math' last night; it guessed happiness, love, and joke instead),Theory of Nothing that we can read together, a book about the math (particularly the algebra) in physics, a book on Lie groups and Lie algebra (EPIC FLAIL *SQUEE*), and a book on Unix because I told him I wanted to learn CS stuff. And that's just Phase One.

Coming up tomorrow: complex variables, nonfiction, and yoga!
