Another question, dear Internet:

What do you do with personalized gifts that serve no purpose for you? Apparently the church I used to go to decided to give me a book called God's Promises for Graduates upon my graduation. Really nice and all, except for one thing.

I'm not Christian anymore.

Advice? They did the same thing with high school too, just before I decided their religion wasn't for me.

(Oh, I haven't dropped off the face of the Internet completely; I just haven't felt like updating. One day there will be a real update.)

If there's a specific person at the church who does that and (s)he comes over to your parents' house frequently and would somehow be upset if (s)he didn't see it on the bookshelf, keep it until you move out, at which point it goes to Goodwill with everything else you're sorting out. If not, it can go to Goodwill directly.

I kind of doubt they'd be surprised about that being a destination for many of their books. It happens.
